“Pimp My Ride!”

“Belive for God”, “Mashaala” and “Om Nam Shiva” are misspelled, but well meaning pieces of advice that pop up in front of your windshield when driving around Bangalore.
Every time you look up, you’d see a deformed portrait of a famous Bollywood actor staring back at you from the back of an auto.
The bright colors, lights, fancy upholstery and Bollywood catch phrases are adorned on every self respecting auto driver’s vehicle. Or just another way of identifying their autos – “Arre, Amir Khan ki photo walla auto!”
Auto art is quite expressive and one would agree that it is an extention of the auto driver’s opinions, beliefs and love for bollywood ‘heroes’. In fact, it is even coming up commercially. Who would’ve thought that there’d be a stall in Russel Market- one of many, but this one’s THE place - that specializes in Auto Art!
